The Use of Daybeds

Daybeds are akin to twin beds but with added functionality. A daybed is meant to serve as a seating arrangement during the day but is large enough to provide comfortable sleeping at night. A trundle is the versatile, extra addition to the daybed. One can buy a storage trundle to place under the daybed to provide additional drawers or one can purchase a mattress trundle to provide larger sleeping accommodations. Additional sleeping space achieved by the trundle can be accomplished with either a rolling trundle that rolls out to create a lower sitting bed for a second person or the pop-up trundle which pops up to the height of the daybed to provide a larger sleeping surface for one or more people.

Can a daybed fit any décor?

Like sheet and comforter sets for traditional beds, daybeds also have covers, comforters and sheet sets in many fashions for any decor one may decide to use. Daybed frames range from fancy to plain. A daybed is a must have for any household with children or guests!

Are daybeds comfortable enough to sleep on every night?

Daybeds are very comfortable for nightly sleeping because a conventional top mattress is used. Springs are not felt through the mattress as they are with other types of unconventional sleeping arrangements. However, daybeds also offer the upgrade of a polytop support which doesn't use springs.

How much space does a daybed take up in a room?

Imagine a regular twin size bed with a headboard and footboard, a daybed takes up the same amount of space. The available sleeping area with a pop-up trundle mattress is the same as a king size bed. For this reason, one must make sure there's enough available space in the room to accommodate the vast size when the pop-up trundle is used.

Are daybeds expensive because they are so versatile?

That’s the beauty of daybeds, for all their functionality, they can be as inexpensive as $100 to as costly as $1,000. The mattress is usually purchased separately and can add to the overall cost as little or as much as the consumer desires.
