A Daybed is a great idea for a guest room that doubles as a guest bedroom and office. When made, a daybed looks somewhat like a couch and less like a bed. It is also lovely for a child's room.

What to consider

Trundle

When buying a daybed, consider what you are going to be using it most for. If you are using it as a guest bed, and you often have children as guests (grandkids, ect), then buying a model that has room for a trundle underneath is a great idea. It becomes two beds without taking up any more space. However, if you need some extra storage space, the area underneath the daybed is best used for that. It usually has a little more space than a traditional bed, and is great for storing winter clothes, ect. Some models even have drawers built in underneath the bed for extra storage or a small room in which a dresser will not fit. The other thing to look for is the ease of which the bed can be made.

Bed Making

Daybeds are often harder to make than regular beds due to the amount of headboard/sideboard it has. If possible, see if you can make the bed in the store to see how they differ from each other. This may not seem important, but if you have guests a lot, or this is going to be a child's bed, it is important!

Room

You also need to make sure you have enough room for a daybed. They look best centered against a wall or window/s. They create two pockets in the corners if the room is on the small side, which can end up being wasted space, or a place for laundry to get piled in and lost. Try small night tables or a lamp or another piece of decor to fill the space. Finally, make sure to buy a few sham pillows and a bedspread made for a daybed. It makes it look more couch-like and the perfect kind of bed for your office/guestroom.
